  • Carnival in Portugal
    In Portugal, Carnival has been celebrated since King D. Sebastião´s time (XIV century), in a more regular basis since the XIX century, but its form has changed over the years and according to geographical area, from North to South, and islands.

    There is a simple system applicable to all those who may have an opportunity to do an unexpected and sporadic job (not regular or permanent), like for example, a market study, etc: this is called the Isolated Act.
  • Monsanto, a multipurpose park...
    Considered by many to be the lung of the city, it was left abandoned for many years, having been requalified only at the turn of this century. It is one of the preferred spots in Lisbon (and outskirts) to visit on weekends, all year round, as long as it doesn´t rain.
  • Merry Christmas in Lisbon !
    Christmas in Lisbon does not always correspond to the idea we have adopted, i.e. that Christmas in Europe has snow or rain, or is at least cold…During this period (as in the Western world in general), we decorate the city with lights that remind us of the season, and which certainly help to create a festive atmosphere prone to generosity.
  • St Martin and Magusto
    Despite the mild weather, autumn has arrived! Soon the vendors of hot chestnuts will take to the streets of Lisbon, their wares filling the air with a gentle aroma of roasting chestnuts. The festival of Magusto is coming, in honour of Saint Martin (Sâo Martinho). But who is St Martin and why is he so honoured?
