Lisbon is a city in which it is easy to find places to relax and to practice sport. The climate allows one to take part in numerous outdoor activities during most of the year. Football (the main sport!), golf, tennis and volleyball are amongst the most popular ones. Watersports such as sailing, surfing, rowing, canoeing, are also common; however, some sports, such as fencing, can seem to be impossible to find here. There are parks, green spaces, and other venues reserved for cycling, skating, roller-blading, etc, and an increasing number of fitness clubs, although these are developing slowly in the Portuguese capital. The more frequent organization of international events, such as Euro 2004 football tournament, Estoril Open golf and tennis, are also helping the development of sport in Lisbon.
